In the magnetherm process we operate a reduction furnace at 70 Torr pressure and use thermal decomposition to convert magnesium oxide ox ide to magnesium. Aluminum and 75% ferrosilicon are used as reductants in in the process. See Figure 1. WebMagnetherm Process In the final stage for both electrolytic and thermally produced magnesium, is refined in alloy as necessary and cast into ingots or billets.
